Product description
The Glenlivet Distillery, based at Upper Drumin Farm, was registered by George Smith in 1824.
However, George's father, Andrew Smith, was producing whisky on the farm as early as 1774. The distillery remained in the hands of the founding family until 1978, when it became the property of the Canadian concern Seagram. Since 2001, it has belonged to Pernod Ricard. Glenlivet 29 years old is a whisky in every inch extraordinary - distilled in 1963 from barley malted on site (the malthouse operated until 1966) and aged in two sherry casks (269-270). Bottled in October 1992 by Signatory in the Vintage Collection series, in an edition of 500 bottles. This is an example of the so-called "old school sherry bombs" that we remember today with a tear in our eye.
Nose: powerful sherry notes, espresso, dark chocolate, licorice, soy sauce, lapsang souchong tea, tobacco, a basket of dried fruit and peat smoke in the background.
Palate : rich, raisins, dried plums, dates and apricots, bitter orange jam, smoked ham, licorice, dark chocolate, a bit of nutmeg and oak tannins.
Finish: infinitely long, full of dried fruit, roasted almonds, maple syrup and dark chocolate enriched with a subtle note of smoke
