Product description
Dunville's Three Crowns is an old brand of Irish pure pot still whiskey produced by Dunville & Co. at the Royal Irish Distillery in Belfast between 1837 and 1936.
In 2016, the whisky was revived by Shane Braniff, founder and owner of Echlinville Distillery. The current Dunville's Three Crowns is a blend of single grain whiskey , 10-year-old single malt and 15-year-old single malt finished in Oloroso sherry casks. Braniff does not disclose which distillery(s) the whiskeys used in the blend come from. Echlinville Distillery is based in Kircubbin and is the first licensed distillery in Northern Ireland for 125 years. The first distillate was drawn from the stills in 2013. (Producer's tasting note.)
Aroma: sweet and mild, with notes of caramel and milk fudge.
Taste : as mild as the aroma, the initial sweetness is soon balanced by cereal notes and a pleasant oak bitterness; a whisky extremely friendly to all palates.
Finish: long, full of subtle notes of walnuts and dried fruit enriched with the sweetness of vanilla.
