Product description
Tanqueray gin, the creation of Charles Tanqueray, debuted in 1830 and quickly gained popularity.
The family business was acquired by United Distillers in 1986, and today Tanqueray gin is in the Diageo portfolio. Originally, it was distilled in London, and currently in Scotland, at the Cameronbridge distillery. The brand's annual sales close at 4 million cases (2018), which puts it in third place among the most popular gins; Gordon's leads the statistics, with 6.5 million cases, and Bombay Sapphire is second with 4.3 million cases. The latest version of Tanqueray, Flor de Sevilla, debuted in spring 2018. Previously, the "orange" Tanqueray was produced between 1937 and 1956 and did not conquer the market. Its formula is attributed to Charles Tanqueray, inspired by a trip to Spain in the 1860s. Diageo does not provide information on this matter, only mentioning the "natural flavor of Seville oranges and their flowers, and other botanicals." In the case of the standard Tanqueray London Dry, these are juniper berries, coriander seed, angelica root and liquorice.
Tanqueray For de Sevilla gin carries a wave of bitter Seville oranges that triumphantly challenge the traditional notes of juniper, pine needles and angelica. We recommend serving it with ice or with Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic and a slice of orange or pink grapefruit.
