Product description
Hayman Distillers Company was founded in 1820. In 1863 it was purchased by Beefeater gin creator James Burrough and remained in the hands of the Burrough/Hayman families for over 120 years.
Shortly after its acquisition by Whitebread Spirits Group in November 1988, Christopher Hayman, then director of the company, managed to buy back the family brand and start producing gin under the Hayman Distillers Co. The company is now managed by his son and daughter, James and Miranda Hayman. Over the years, they have developed a rich range based solely on family formulas. They also criticise modern producers for underestimating the role of juniper in modern gin recipes. Hayman's London Dry debuted in 2008 and remains an absolute classic of the genre. Its formula contains 10 botanicals from Europe, Asia and Africa: juniper from Macedonia, coriander from Bulgaria, angelica root from Belgium, lemon peel from Egypt, orange peel from Spain, cinnamon from Madagascar, cassia bark from Indonesia, orris root from Morocco, licorice from Uzbekistan and nutmeg from Indonesia. Before the final distillation in a copper still, they are macerated for 24 hours in wheat spirit.
Hayman's London Dry is a very solid proposition, a gin rich in juniper, with notes of zesty orange, liquorice, cinnamon, a pinch of pepper and nutmeg. It is a great base for a Dry Martini, we also recommend it with Schweppes tonic and a slice of lime.
