Product description
Miltonduff is a large distillery based in Speyside that has been producing whisky since 1824. Its buildings are located on the grounds of Pluscarden Abbey, where there was a brewery and probably a distillery as early as the 13th century.
The Hiram Walker & Sons Group purchased the plant in 1936, which is when the relationship with the Ballantine brand began, which continues to this day. Currently, Miltonduff, equipped with 3 pairs of stills, produces 5.8 million liters of distillate per year, almost all of which goes to blends from the Pernod Ricard portfolio, hence the supply of local single malt is negligible. The Miltonduff presented here, distilled on January 23, 1978, spent 21 years in a sherry cask no. 1685. Bottled at cask strength (59.2% abv) by Signatory in the so-called Vintage Collection in January 1999 in an edition of 535 bottles.
