Product description
Starka Brown Spirit 9-year-old was produced in Poland, Lithuania and Belarus as early as the 15th century. Traditionally, it was prepared to celebrate the birth of the firstborn son, and the barrel with the distillate was opened only for his wedding. Starka Brown Spirit 9-year-old was created with the intention of obtaining a delicate taste, which is added to the mystery by the rye distillate matured for at least 9 years in oak barrels in historical cellars at a depth of 20 meters in Szczecin. It is perfect for drinking both at room temperature and classically served with ice cubes.
The Starka brand, produced by Polmos Szczecin (currently Szczecińska Fabryka Wódek "Starka"), has roots dating back to 1947, when oak barrels began to be filled with rye distillate, and the first half-liter bottles of 5-year-old Starka went on sale in 1952. In 1957, a 10-year-old version appeared, and in 1972 – a 15-year anniversary version. After the political transformation in Poland, Polmos Szczecin ceased to exist, and production of Starka was temporarily suspended. In 2012, Polmos bought the Gdańsk-based company Agora, which moved its headquarters to Szczecin, changed its name to Szczecińska Fabryka Wódek Starka and resumed traditional production. Today, Szczecińska Fabryka Wódek Starka remains the only producer in Poland specializing in this type of alcohol, continuing the long-standing heritage of matured rye vodka.
