Product description
In spring 2017, Edrington Group changed the presentation of the basic editions of Highland Park.
The new visualization is inspired by the period around 800 AD, when Orkney was under the rule of the Vikings, and especially by the wooden carvings from that time, which we can find today in the Stavkirke church in the Norwegian village of Ormes. The new bottle is decorated with a scene from Norse mythology, in which a lion defeats a dragon, which represents the forces of evil. As we read in the press release, only the presentation and name of the whisky change, not its character. The 12-year-old Viking Honor presented here is a whisky composed of distillates aged in bourbon and sherry barrels, with a predominance of the latter, and bottled at 40% alcohol.
Nose: rich and complex with distinct notes of sherry, heather, vanilla, honey, dark chocolate, apples, oranges, traces of hay and peat smoke.
Palate : honey wrapped in peat smoke, vanilla, buttered toast, orange jam, pineapples, notes of oak and roasted chestnuts.
Finish: quite long, with notes of honey, white pepper, oak and peat smoke in the background.
