Product description
Bowmore is the oldest distillery on Islay, having begun distilling whisky in 1779, and is now owned by Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd, which in turn is owned by Beam Suntory.
Bowmore single malt is currently the third most popular Islay whisky, with annual sales of 2 million bottles, behind Laphroaig and Lagavulin. The old versions of Bowmore provide an unforgettable tasting experience, after several decades of maturation, the whisky palette combines the sweetness of tropical fruits with a subtle hint of peat. The Bowmore edition presented here is a drink as rare as it is extraordinary. The whisky was distilled on May 10, 1973 and matured for over four decades in bourbon hogshead casks (no. 3883-3888). These were the last casks from this vintage in the distillery's stocks, making this edition a decoration of any collection. (Producer's tasting note.)
