Aultmore 18-year-old Foggie Moss / 46% / 0.7l
- Aultmore Distillery (“Big Burn” in Gaelic) was founded in 1896 and just 3 years later fell victim to the Pattisons crash. It has been owned by John Dewar & Sons since 1923 with main objective to supply malt to the Dewar’s brand.
Product description
Aultmore Distillery (from the Gaelic word for "great stream") began operation in 1896, and after only three years it almost went bankrupt due to fraud by one of its contractors, Pattisons Ltd.
It has been owned by John Dewar & Sons since 1923 and supplies malt spirits for Dewar's blends. Despite its considerable production capacity (over 3 million litres of spirits per year), single malt editions have remained almost exclusively the domain of independent distributors until recently. It was not until late 2014 that John Dewar & Sons offered several official versions in the Last Great Malts series. The Aultmore 18 year old presented here joined the range in spring 2015. It is made from spirits aged in bourbon casks and refill sherry casks.

Taste: well balanced, breakfast cereals, apples, grapes, honey, caramel, green tea, lemongrass, hay and a light oak bitterness.
Finish: quite long, dry, with notes of fresh hay, green apples, white pepper, lemongrass and oak.
