Product description
The Glenfarclas distillery, built in 1836 by Robert Hay on Rechlerich Farm, near the town of Ballindalloch, has belonged to the Grant family since 1865.
Its name translates from Gaelic to “valley of green grass.” In recent years, the Grants have received several offers to buy the distillery, but none of them interested them. Glenfarclas offers a wide range of its whiskies, from young, unaged to 50-year-old. The 30-year-old version debuted in the early 1990s and, after a short break, returned in 2016 in a new presentation – in a red box, the front of which imitates the door to the distillery warehouse.
Nose: full and complex with a light malt note, strong sherry tones, dried plums, raisins, roasted almonds, honey, dark chocolate, traces of oak and leather.
Palate: sherry again, light notes of cognac, dried plums, figs and cherries, nut nougat, dark chocolate, Christmas fruit cake, a trace of marzipan and a subtle oak bitterness.
Finish: long and complex, dried fruit, dark chocolate, sherry-soaked oak, a pinch of kitchen spices and a trace of burnt rubber.
