Product description
In 2000, a group of private investors, owners of the distribution company Murray McDavid, purchased the closed Bruichladdich Distillery.
They were joined by Bowmore’s charismatic ambassador Jim McEwan and soon the unwanted distillery became a model. The Legacy series was released between 2002 and 2007 and included six extremely rare whiskies. Here we present the first edition, a whisky distilled in 1966 and aged for 36 years in American oak hogshead casks. They were selected personally by Jim McEwan. The whisky was bottled without chill filtration and at a natural alcohol content of 40.6% abv. The edition consisted of 1500 bottles.
Nose: intense, peaches, plums, mango, bananas, caramel, buttered toast, vanilla cream, hay, polished oak, dusty library and a distant breath of sea breeze.
Palate: rich, pleasant oak bitterness, apples, peaches, grapefruit, raisins, vanilla, caramel, cocoa, cinnamon, candied ginger and a pinch of salt.
Finish: long and complex, vanilla, honey, fruit from grandma's orchard, oak and a subtle hint of spice.
