Product description
In the 1990s, The Macallan was often referred to as the Rolls-Royce of single malt whiskies.
The distillery placed great emphasis on the quality of the casks, ordering them from coopers in Jerez and then renting them out to bodegas producing Oloroso sherry for two to three years. After that, the casks were transported in their entirety to Scotland. The basic editions of The Macallan were usually made from 70% first-fill casks and 30% second-fill. The Macallan 10 year old Full Proof (57% abv or 100 British Proof) presented here, we believe, dates from the late 1970s and early 1980s and was bottled for the Italian importer Giovinetti & Figli.
