Product description
In the 21st century, we are witnessing a phenomenon that would have been a fantasy a quarter of a century ago – during blind tastings, Japanese whiskies are winning against Scottish ones and, as a result, a few Scottish producers go to Japan in search of inspiration.
One of them is the legendary Chivas Bros blender, Colin Scott, who enriched his creation with a Japanese accent during such a journey. After selecting 12-year-old whiskies according to the Chivas Regal formula, some of them were subjected to a final maturation in barrels made of Japanese oak (Mizunara). Mizunara oak is porous, grows very slowly, which is why it is very expensive and rarely used by whisky producers. Chivas Regal Mizunara debuted in Japan in October 2014 and was the first Scottish blend to be created using Japanese oak.
