Product description
A rum branded by Banks DIH (Demerara Ice House), formerly D'Aguiar Bros. Ltd., a company founded in 1840 in Guyana by Jose Gomes D'Aguiar.
Over the centuries, the company has also traded in cocoa, produced chocolate, and imported ice from Canada – hence the word "ice" in the name. In the 1960s, D'Aguiar Bros. Ltd. merged with Banks Breweries Ltd., and Banks DIH was created. The company does not own a rum distillery, it buys rum from various producers in the Caribbean, matures it in its own warehouses, blends it and bottles it under its own brand. The XM series consists of five different rums, the oldest of which is XM Supreme 15yo. A limited edition of 20-year-old rum was also released, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Guyana's independence.
XM Royal is a Demerara-style rum made with sugar cane molasses and matured in American bourbon barrels for 10 years, then matured for an additional 6 months in sherry casks.
Aroma: Spices, oranges, molasses, tropical fruits, coconuts, ginger.
