Product description
The Smugglers' Series, a trilogy inspired by the illegal whiskey trade in the 18th and 19th centuries, debuted in September 2015 with The Illicit Stills.
It was a nod from the distillery owners to their ancestors, illegal distillers from the Isle of Arran. October 2016 brought the second installment of the triptych, The High Seas, dedicated to smugglers and their eternal escapes from law enforcement in the waters surrounding the island. The whisky was composed of distillates aged in first-fill bourbon and rum barrels, as well as a heavily peated distillate (with a phenol concentration of 50 ppm). The presentation retains the "smuggling" character, a mock book with a cut-out chamber in the shape of a bottle. Arran The High Seas is bottled without an age statement and with natural alcohol content (55.4% abv) in a limited edition of 8,700 bottles.
