Product description
Pig's Nose blended whiskey debuted in 1977.
Its creator, MJ Dowdeswell, a farmer and pub owner from Gloucestershire, had three years earlier put together a blended malta Sheep Dip, which was warmly received by the local community. In 2005, the rights to the brand were acquired by Spencerfield Spirits, whose assets were acquired by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2016. The bottle shown here is from before 2016, containing whisky blended by Whyte & Mackay for Spencerfield Spirits. Its owner, Alex Nicol, was a director of W&M and was given the rights to the Pig's Nose brand as part of a "director's severance package", and Richard Paterson changed the blend's formula to increase the malt content to 40%. The label claims that the whisky is "as smooth as a pig's nose".
