Product description
The Glenfarclas distillery, built in 1836 by Robert Hay on Rechlerich Farm, near the town of Ballindalloch, has belonged to the Grant family since 1865.
Its name translates from Gaelic to “valley of green grass.” In recent years, the Grants have received several offers to buy the distillery, but none have interested them. Glenfarclas offers a wide range of whiskies, from young, no-age-statement whiskies to 50-year-olds. A 40-year-old version joined the core range in 2010 after debuting at the annual Speyside Whisky Festival. In August 2015, another 40-year-old edition was released, this time bottled at 43% abv and presented in a red box, the front of which imitates the door to the distillery warehouse.
