Knockdhu Distillery was built in 1893 to produce malt distillate for Haig's blends.
Exactly 100 years later, Inver House Distillers, its current owner, began promoting anCnoc single malt, and in 2004, for the first time, included a vintage version in its offer. It was the 1990 Vintage, which was warmly received and “paved the way” for subsequent vintages. December 2015 brought the 2001 Vintage, made from whisky aged in bourbon and sherry casks, bottled without chill filtration at 46% ABV. The edition consisted of 6,000 bottles.
Aroma: rich, floral-spicy, blooming meadow, anise, ginger, vanilla, toffee, honey, lemon and orange peel and light oak notes.
Palate: spicy, pepper, nutmeg, allspice, licorice, green tea, honey, vanilla, candied lemon peel, traces of oak and herbs.
Finish: medium long, quite spicy, with herbal notes, vanilla, pepper and oak bitterness.
