Product description
Flight No. RO/12/01
Between 1964 and 1981 the Miltonduff Distillery produced two whiskies, Miltonduff and Mosstowie.
The latter was distilled in a so-called Lomond still, combining a traditional alembic with a distillation column. The lower part of the apparatus does not differ in shape from a traditional alembic, while the neck contains three movable rectification plates, the position of which determines the length of contact of the vapors with the copper. Mosstowie was used exclusively for the production of blends, mainly Ballantine's. The Mosstowie 1979 old presented here is a proposal of the Gordon & MacPhail company in the Rare Old series (RO/12/01). The whisky bottled in 2012 in a limited edition of 350 bottles came from refilled bourbon barrels.
