The Buss Nº 509 brand was launched in the late 2013 by Serge Buss, the founder and owner of Bar Bounce, the first Gin & Tonic Bar in Belgium.
Serge opened his first restaurant at the age of 20 in his native Antwerp, Belgium (his grandfather cooked for the Belgian royals and his father owned a string of highly successful restaurants). Earlier that year he developed the recipe and maceration process for his first gin, Buss Nº 509 Raspberry Gin. Its formula includes juniper berries, coriander, liquorice, angelica root, vanilla, cardamom, iris, orange, lemon and raspberry. The Raspberry Gin was the first in the Author Collection range soon to be followed with Pink Grapefruit, Belgian Apple, Elderflower and Persian Peach gins. The production details of Buss gins are closely guarded secret; we only know that they are made with natural ingredients, with no addition of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives.
Buss Nº 509 Raspberry Gin has fruity and floral nose with notes of juniper, pine needles, raspberries, citrus and hints of bananas. The palate is quite citrusy, with notes of raspberries, cardamom, juniper and a touch of aniseed. We recommend serving it neat or with an ice cube or with Fever Tree Indian Tonic garnished with few raspberries and fresh mint.
