Product description
Crown Royal, the most popular Canadian whisky (in 2016 its sales reached 6.8 million cases).
It debuted in 1939 on the occasion of the first Canadian visit of King George VI and his daughter Queen Elizabeth and was available only in Canada until 1964. Its formula was developed by Seagram's owner Samuel Bronfman. Since 2001, the brand has belonged to the Diageo group and is currently produced at the Gimli distillery in Manitoba (previously the distilleries were Waterloo in Ontario and LaSalle in Quebec). Crown Royal XR (Extra Rare) debuted in 2006 and contained whisky from the Waterloo Distillery, which closed in 1992; the one presented here hit the market six years later and is based on distillates from the LaSalle distillery, which closed in 2003.
