Product description
Boodles Gin debuted in 1845 as part of Cock Russell & Company's range. It is named after the gentlemen's club founded by Edward Boodle in 1762 in St. James', London.
Supposedly, the club's most famous members, Prime Minister Winston Churchill and James Bond author Ian Flemming, were fans of this gin. The brand changed hands several times, until 2001 it belonged to Seagram, then to Pernod Ricard, and finally in 2012 it ended up in the portfolio of Proximo Spirits, which contracted Greenall's Distillery in Warrington to distill it. Boodles returned to the British market in 2013 and immediately won a silver medal at the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco. To this day, this gin is distilled according to the original formula, which includes: juniper berries, angelica root and seeds, cinnamon bark, cumin, nutmeg, rosemary and sage, but lacks citrus and their peels. The base alcohol is wheat spirit. Boodles is bottled for the domestic market at 40% alcohol and for export at 45.2% abv.
Boodles is a classic example of a London Dry gin; it has strong notes of juniper and angelica, a pinch of caraway and a herbal and slightly bitter finish. We recommend serving it with a classic Schweppes tonic with a slice of lemon or lime.
