Murray McDavid was founded in 1996 and was involved in the bottling and distribution of whiskies and rums. From 2001 to 2012 it also owned the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay.
The 12-year-old Mortlach presented here is a whisky that differs significantly from the official editions. Distilled in 1993 and aged in bourbon barrels for 12 years, it was finished in Syrah barrels from the Guigal Cote Rotie vineyard in the Rhône Valley. The edition consisted of 1,800 bottles. Since 2013, the Murray McDavid brand has been owned by Aceo Ltd.
Aroma : intense fruity tones, raspberries, cranberries, plums, raisins, marzipan, walnuts, toast with melted butter and rose petals.
Palate : rich and sweet, berry jam, raisins, candied orange peel, almond croissant, a pinch of cinnamon and a trace of tannins.
Finish : medium long, fruity with a delicate oak note.
