Product description
Glenrothes Elders Reserve was introduced in 2013 as a part of Manse Brae Reserves range, named after the street on which Rothes House stands.
The expressions commemorate the spiritual home of Glenrothes; the distillery history is very closely linked to the Church of Scotland. The three whiskies included in the range – Manse, Elders and Ministers – refer to the fact that Rothes House was formerly the Minister’s home, also known as the Manse, and it was a place where the Elders of the Kirk would meet. Elders Reserve comprises whisky matured for a minimum of 18 years in equal proportions of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
Nose: distinctive sherry notes, honey, toffee, hazelnuts, oranges, dried apricots, prunes, apples, hints of ginger and a touch of leather.
Palate: nicely balanced, fruity and spicy, apples, oranges, raisins, vanilla, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, candied ginger and delicate oakiness.
Finish: long and quite sweet, toffee, vanilla, hints of oak and spice.
