Product description
A limited release of Ardbeg (13 000 bottles) introduced on June 1, 2013 for the annual Fèis Ìle (Islay Festival of Whisky and Music).
Ardbog is a vatting of Ardbegs aged in ex-bourbon and ex-Manzanilla sherry casks. The saltiness of Manzanilla sherry emphasizes the briny character of Ardbeg. There is no age statement on the label, yet we were assured that no whisky younger than 10 years old was used for this special release. The whisky was bottled uncut (52.1% abv) and unchill-filtered.
Nose: quite sweet and peaty, sea salt, maple syrup, traces of plums and oranges and trace of herbs.
Palate: rich and complex, roasted salted peanuts, raisins, prunes, pickled peppers and seaweed salad.
Finish: long and spicy, briny, fading peat smoke.
