The story of this edition began when 100 members of the Committee from 15 different countries gathered at the Ardbeg Distillery to take part in a top secret experiment. The whisky creation team wanted to capture reactions to the most extreme Ardbeg variants in order to create a new, exclusive product that reflected the multi-faceted nature of the Ardbeg Committee.
After months of experimentation, a new edition was born, which features a marriage of PX sherry casks with a distillate of roasted malt matured in bourbon barrels and bottled at 52.2%. We can find sweetness, which is broken by a subtle saltiness reminiscent of sea breeze or crunchy salted seaweed, before moving on to raisins in dark chocolate, which lead to notes of chicory and cinnamon, and a slightly drying impression on the palate adds an intriguing character. In the background, a pleasant smoke develops with accents of apple wood, iodine, burnt moss and ash. On the other hand, the aroma is fruity and rich, noticeable clear notes of cherry and juicy red apples, caramel accents of coffee and cocoa, which intertwine with the subtle smoke of a heather campfire and hand-rolled sweet tobacco leaves, and finally delicate notes of cedar and fennel. The finish is intense and long, with distinct notes of sweet molasses toffee, anise, tar soap and burning embers.
