In the autumn of 2018, Glenrothes Distillery broke with a quarter-century tradition of releasing whiskies in vintage versions.
The new series called Soleo Collection consists of five whiskies, four of which are offered in age versions - 10, 12, 18 and 25 years old and one, Whisky Maker's Cut bottled without an age statement, but with the alcohol content raised to 48.8%. The entire collection is made of distillates aged exclusively in sherry casks, a large part of first fill. The name Soleo Collection comes from the process of drying grapes in the sun, later used to produce Pedro Ximénez sherry.
Nose: clear notes of sherry, caramel, honey, golden syrup, a trace of vanilla, oranges, raisins, chocolate mousse and a trace of leather.
Taste : rich and expressive, apricots, oranges, banana cake, dried mango, milk fudge, brown sugar, a pinch of pepper and a trace of tobacco.
Finish: quite long, with notes of cocoa powder, cinnamon, pepper, raisins, dried apples and oak.
