Product description
Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 2012 by Liam Huges, Mike Hayward, and Ian McDougall.
The distillery (the first malt distillery opened in Glasgow for over 100 years) is equipped with three stills and can produce 500,000 liters of spirit per annum (additional still is used for gin distillation). The first distillation took place in March 2015 and Glasgow 1770 single malt was launched three years later; 1770 refers to Dundashill Distillery, which operated in Glasgow from 1770 to 1902. The distillery produces unpeated and peated whisky and practices triple distillation for one month a year. Glasgow 1770 Peated Cask Strength Batch 01 was introduced in 2023. The whisky was aged in virgin oak barrels then finished in ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Only 1000 bottles were produced.
