Product description
The original Tullibardine Distillery operated from 1798 to 1837, but no details of its exact location have survived.
The current Tullibardine has been distilling since 1949 in Blackford, Perthshire, on the site of a former brewery. The distillery has changed hands several times, most recently in 2011 when it was taken over by the French company Picard Vins & Spiritueux, and over the next few years has significantly expanded its single malt offering. Tullibardine 30 years old is Douglas Laing & Co.’s offering in the prestigious XOP (Extra Old Particular) series. Distilled in March 1993, it spent three decades in a refilled hogshead cask no. DL 17244, the contents of which in March 2023 translated into 226 bottles of cask strength whisky (51.8% abv). The whiskies from the Douglas Laing & Co. portfolio are bottled with natural colour and without chill filtration. (Official tasting note.)
Nose: Typical Highlands whisky notes of spices, nuts and barley malt.
Taste: pleasant spiciness on the palate, notes of hickory wood, licorice and brown sugar.
Finish: Notes of dark Muscovado sugar in the finish balanced by the bitterness of oak.
