In the spring of 2019, the Edrington Group sold Glenturret Distillery to newly formed Glenturret Holding, a joint venture between luxury goods company Lalique Group and Swiss entrepreneur Hansjörg Wyss, Lalique’s second largest shareholder.
In September 2020 the distillery launched its new core range including four expressions – Triple Wood, 10 years old Peat Smoked, 12 years old and 15 years old. All of the new expressions come in new Lalique inspired bottle with a distinctive rectangular profile. The range was created by ex-Macallan’s Bob Dalgarno, who joined the Glenturret as master distiller. The 10 years old peated expression is aged in American and European oak casks, both first fill and refill. The 2022 Release, scored Gold at the 2023 International Wine & Spirits Competition.
Nose: malted barley, roasted peanuts, caramel, vanilla, apricots, apples, lemon oil, ginger, white pepper, burnt rubber, and whiffs of smoke.
Palate: salted caramel, vanilla, lemon peel, Mirabelle plums, white pepper, lemon grass, dash of ginger, peat smoke and ash.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of peat smoke, honey, vanilla, salted pretzels, lemon peel, white pepper and oak.
