Product description
In April 2018, renowned independent whisky publisher Gordon & MacPhail, which has been operating since 1895, reduced the number of its “release series” from fourteen to five.
Among the lucky five was “Connoisseurs Choice,” in our opinion the most recognizable Gordon & MacPhail series, launched in the 1960s by George Urquhart. Currently, we find single cask editions bottled at cask strength. The Tormore presented here was added to the series on May 30, 2022 as Batch #22/109. Distilled in 1993, the whisky spent almost three decades in a first-fill sherry butt (no. 5053) and was bottled at cask strength (54.5% abv) and without chill filtration in an edition of 554 bottles. (G&M tasting note.)
Nose: stewed red berries, vanilla sticks and subtle notes of cocoa powder, sweet dried dates infused with toffee syrup and a hint of anise.
Palate : baked apples served with cinnamon and ginger, followed by dark chocolate, citrus and notes of charred oak.
Finish : long and full, with strong notes of summer berries and a delicate herbal aftertaste.
