The name of the Don Papa brand is a tribute to a historical figure, a fighter for the liberation of the Philippines from the Spanish rule at the end of 19th century, Dionisio Magbuelas, commonly known as Papa Isio.
The brand was created by Stephen Carroll for the Bleeding Heart Company. Made on the Philippine island of Negros, it is supposed to be the world’s first single island rum from the Philippines.
Don Papa Baroko is a spiced rum, distilled in traditional copper pot stills and matured for at least three years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels.
Nose: Powerful, with notes of vanilla, citrus fruit and oak.
Palate: Smooth and sweet, with notes of vanilla, honey and spices.
Finish: Long, with notes of oak.
