- Nikka Distilling Company, part of Asahi Breweries, has been number 2 producer of alcoholic beverages in Japan for years.
Product description
Nikka Distilling Company belongs to Asahi Breweries and is the second largest producer of alcoholic beverages in Japan after Suntory.
Its portfolio includes three distilleries in Japan – Yoichi, Miyagikyo and the now-closed Nishinomiya, and one in Scotland, Ben Nevis. Since autumn 2015, due to lack of stock, the company has limited its single malt offering to just one Yoichi and one Miyagikyo, focusing more on blended whiskies (the latter may use Ben Nevis malt to blend ). The core of Nikka Days is the slightly “peated” Yoichi and grain whiskies from the Miyagikyo distillery. The whisky debuted in 2018 and is available outside its native Japan.
