Product description
Fuji Gotemba Distillery (also known as Mt. Fuji Distillery) is located just a few kilometers from the famous mountain (the distillery sources its water from the mountain snowmelt).
The distillery was built in 1973 as a joint venture between Kirin and Seagram and since 2001 has been wholly owned by Kirin. The distillery is equipped with two pairs of pot stills and three column stills and produces malt as well as grain whiskey, the latter in three different styles – American (bourbon), Canadian and Scottish. Fuji blended whisky was created by Jota Tanaka, Kirin’s Master Blender; it is a blend of own malt and grain whiskies with a little addition of malt whiskies distilled outside of Japan. Kirin is currently number three whisky producer in Japan, after Suntory and Nikka.
