Product description
In the original Classic Malts series, released in 1988 by United Distillers, the Islay region was represented by Lagavulin 16 years old. Distillers Edition debuted 10 years later and showed a "new dimension" to the classics.
The whiskies contained in it, after the basic maturation period, were "finished" in various types of casks, in the case of Lagavulin these were casks from the sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry. Until 2021, the Distillers Edition was offered in vintage versions, a year later Diageo abandoned such practice. The edition presented here hit the market in 2022. In recent years, Lagavulin has lost some of its popularity, in 2020 it recorded sales of 1.7 million bottles, which means fourth place on the list of the most popular Islay malts behind Laphroaig, Bowmore and Ardbeg.
