Drumshanbo whiskey is produced by Shed Distillery located in the village of Drumshanbo in County Leitrim, Ireland.
The distillery was founded by Patrick J. Rigney, an entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in the drinks industry, in 2014, and is equipped with five small pot stills and three column stills. The distillery produces whiskey, vodka and gin; the latter has been on the market for several years and scored number of prestigious awards. The whiskey was distilled for the first time in the late 2014 and the un-official launch took place in December 2017. Drumshanbo Single Pot Still whiskey is distilled from mash composed of malted and un-malted barley with an addition of Irish Barra oats. The expression presented here was aged in ex-Pinot Noir casks sourced from Burgundy, and released in 2022 with an outrun of 7200 bottles.
Nose: breakfast cereals, toffee, vanilla, red apples, strawberry jam, dash of white pepper, and hints of candied fruits.
Palate: vanilla, butterscotch, banana bread, red berries, milk chocolate, dash of nutmeg and allspice, and a touch of cinnamon.
Finish: medium long, with notes of vanilla cream, mocha, strawberries, raspberries, dash of mixed spice and oak.
