Product description
Black Art series, introduced 2009, is the creation of legendary Jim McEwan, “his personal voyage into the heart of Bruichladdich”.
The cask selection remained a secret of the maker, never to be revealed. Jim McEwan retired in the summer of 2015 and Adam Hannett took over the master distiller post. He also followed his mentor’s footsteps continuing the Black Art project. Black Art 10.1 is his sixth edition and remains as mysterious as any previous release. All we know is that whisky was aged in Bruichladdich warehouses for 29 years and bottled at 45.1% abv without chill-filtration in the fall of 2022. Traditionally, the bottles are adorned with hexagram, what makes the Black Art concept even more enigmatic.
Nose: very rich, milk chocolate, honey, pralines, honeydew melon, cherries, apricot preserve, dried dates, clove, nutmeg, hints of geranium and honeysuckle, leather and iodine.
Palate: juicy apricots, raisins, plums, melons, coconut shavings, vanilla, honey, milk chocolate, marzipan, hints of ginger and cinnamon, and toasted oak.
Finish: long and complex, with notes ripe citrus, sweet pastries, chocolate, candied ginger, tobacco and oak.
