The Whistler brand was introduced in the early 2017 by Boann Distillery; the distillery is located in Drogheda, County Meath, and was founded the previous year.
The first distillation of pure pot still spirit took place in December 2019. Just like most start-ups Boann launched their whiskey brand while its own spirit is still less than three years old. The Whistler P.X. I Love You is a non-age-statement single malt whiskey sourced from undisclosed distillery. Distilled from 100% malted Irish barley the whiskey was aged in ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred into ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for additional nine months. We truly admire its presentation – blue label with the golden outline as well as the name itself are really standing out.
Nose: sweet sherry notes, raisins, prunes, dried apricots, milk chocolate, peanut butter, toffee, hints of hay, potpourri and oak.
Palate: fruity, dried dates and figs, sultanas, milk chocolate, vanilla, black tea, dash of pepper and mint.
Finish: medium long, with notes of sherry, sweet dried fruit, white pepper, dash of cinnamon and oak.
