Product description
With global annual sales of almost 8.7 million cases (2021), Ballantine is the second most popular Scotch whisky.
When we say Ballantine, we usually mean blended whisky, but the brand also includes single malts (e.g. Glenburgie or Miltonduff 15 years old) and several blended malt editions. Purity, a representative of the latter category, debuted in 1998 in the offer for the Travel Retail chain (at that time the rights to Ballantine's whisky were held by the Allied Domecq concern). It was the first pure malt (blended malt) edition by George Ballantine & Sons. Its formula included, among others, Miltonduff, Glenburgie, Glentauchers, Tormore and Scapa aged for at least 20 years. The unusual presentation of the whisky catches the eye, a teardrop-shaped decanter resting in an artistic case.
Nose : fruity, delicately floral, pears, apples, honeydew melon, oranges, vanilla, honey, milk chocolate, white pepper, ginger, potpourri and a fleeting trace of smoke.
Palate: rich, pears, plums, apricots, quince jam, vanilla, honey-roasted almonds, cinnamon, pepper, a hint of licorice and a delicate bitterness of oak.
Finish: quite long, with notes of dried apricots and dates, orange peel, mocha, vanilla, cinnamon, oak and a touch of nutmeg.
