In the summer of 2021 Tomatin Distillery announced launch of French Collection, a range of four Tomatin expressions finished in Monbazillac, Sauternes, Rivesaltes and cognac casks.
Here we have the fourth and final installment to the series, Tomatin distilled on May 16, 2008, originally matured in refill hogsheads then, on November 29, 2018, transferred into Cognac casks for additional 28 months. Tomatin Distillery, once the largest Scottish distillery, sits in Inverness-shire and equipped with six pairs of stills can produce 5 million liters of spirit per annum. In 2020 the brand global sales crossed 750,000 bottles mark.
Nose: rich, toffee, vanilla, crème brûlée, buttered croissant, raspberries, blood oranges, red apples, roasted almonds, hits of lavender and oak.
Palate: Christmas cake, roasted nuts and almonds, toffee, heather honey, pears, orange peel, milk chocolate, nutmeg and hints of ginger.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of citrus, honey, milk chocolate, almonds, cinnamon, dash of black pepper and oak.
