Product description
Brewdog is widely known as an independent, new wave brewery, located in Ellon, Aberdeenshire in Scotland.
The brewery made itself a name as an unorthodox beer maker not only in the brewing methods, but also in the marketing strategies. In 2016 a small-scale distillery was installed within the brewery, equipped with specially designed apparatuses, including unusual pot stills and column stills. The distillery’s aim was to produce experimental rum, gin, vodka and whisky.
Five hundred Cuts Botanical Rum is a spirit double distilled in Brewdog’s unusual pot stills. Part of white rum is then infused with tonka beans, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and a mixture of other spices. Another part is redistilled with fresh orange peel, pepper, cardamom and cloves. The rum is dedicated to Elizabeth Blackwell, an 18th-century author of a book on herbal medicine titled “A Curious Herbal”. The author also illustrated the book with drawings of 500 botanicals ("cuts") discussed in the book. Hence the rum’s name.
