- Lochside Distillery operated in the port of Montrose in Eastern Highlands, on site of James Deuchar Brewery.
Product description
Based in the seaside town of Montrose in the Eastern Highlands, Lochside Distillery began operation in 1957.
The plant was located in the buildings of the once famous James Deuchar brewery. Initial production was limited to grain distillate, but soon malt whisky and Sandy MacNab blend were also produced there. In 1974, the distillery became the property of Destilerias y Crianza and focused on the production of malt whisky, which was mainly used in Spanish blends. After further mergers in the industry, Lochside joined the portfolio of the Allied Domecq group, but due to significant overproduction in the sector, it suspended operations in 1992 and never resumed them. The whisky presented here, distilled in September 1991, was aged in refill bourbon casks and bottled in April 2011 by Gordon & MacPhail in the popular Connoisseurs Choice series.
