Product description
The story of Dictador rum commences in 1751, with Severo Arango Ferro arriving at Cartagena de Indias in Colombia, in order to control and develop trade links between Spain and its overseas colony.
Thanks to his knowledge and physical stamina, he soon earned the nickname Dictador. Enchanted by the flavours and elegance of the locally made rum, he became the largest rum producer and exporter. Some 160 years later, one of Dictador’s descendants founded Destileria Columbiana, in time becoming the largest rum producer in the Caribbean. The third generation of the Arango family created the Dictador Europe project, embarking on an international expansion of the brand.
Series Jerarquía (Spanish for hierarchy), launched in 2021, is a collection of old and rare barrels, guarded by the Parra family, masters of the Colombian rum for generations. Each barrel offers a unique profile. Dictador Jerarquía Borbón 1985 is a single barrel that previously held American bourbon, vintage 1985, bottled at the age of 35 years.
