Product description
When in 1865 two Englishmen, John Davy and Francis Gooding, purchased 300 acres of land on the Albert River in Queensland, Australia, they planned to grow cotton.
They named the estate after their farm in Devonshire, England – Beenleigh. It soon became clear that growing sugar cane would be incomparably more lucrative than cotton. It’s not far from a sugar cane plantation to a rum distillery. The distillery was founded in 1884 and is still in operation today. The original, red distillery building has recently been listed as a historic monument. The distillery is a craft distillery, with only four people involved in making rum. The rum is made from molasses, and distillation takes place in both a column still and a traditional copper still.
Beenleigh Bourbon Barrel Aged is a molasses rum, a blend of column still and pot still distillates. Aged for 30 months in American bourbon barrels.
