Product description
In 2020 Royal Lochnagar Distillery celebrated its 175th Anniversary. Located in close proximity to Royal Family’s Balmoral Castle New Lochnagar Distillery was built by John Begg in 1845.
It was renamed Royal Lochnagar after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert took the distillery tour in 1848 and issued a Royal Warrant, allowing the use of ‘Royal’ in its name. The distillery’s Royal connections are still alive. In 2018 Prince Charles donated a cask presented to him by Royal Lochnagar 20 years earlier to be bottled and sold in aid of the Prince’s Foundation. The 175th Anniversary edition is a vatting of refill, Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry seasoned casks bottled at natural strength of 56.3% abv in the fall of 2020. Only 3000 bottles were produced.
