Glenlivet 12 years old has been one of the most popular single malt expressions for years. It was first introduced in 1933, right after Prohibition in the US ended, what makes it one of the longest produced expressions of single malt.
Glenlivet has been the second best selling single malt basically forever (2014 was the only year when it outsold its archrival Glenfiddich) however it still holds number one ranking in the US. In 2018 the global brand sales rose to 14.5 million bottles. The latest incarnation (2019) of this award winning single malt is called The Glenlivet 12 years old Double Oak and alike its predecessors it is a vatting of ex-American and ex-European oak.
Nose: soft, flowery and fruity, summer meadow in full bloom, apples, peaches, red berries, vanilla and oak.
Palate: nicely balanced, fruity, apples, pineapple, gooseberries, vanilla custard, hints of cinnamon and walnuts and delicate oakiness.
Finish: fairly long, warming, orchard fruits, almonds and hints of oak.
