Product description
The word ‘Auchentoshan’ translates from the Gaelic to “the corner of the field” and Auchentoshan Distillery has been producing whisky on the outskirts of Glasgow since 1823 (currently about 1,5 million liters per annum).
Within the last decade sales of Auchentoshan single malt increased by impressive 200% and in 2019 crossed 1.7 million bottles mark. Here we have a limited collectible edition, whisky distilled in 1998 (about four years after the distillery was acquired by Morrison Bowmore Distillers) aged in white American oak barrels for 21 years then transferred into ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for additional eight years. Unfortunately, the company did not reveal an outrun.
Nose: rich and fruity, oranges, cherries, figs, sultanas and raisins, vanilla, caramel, milk chocolate, marzipan, hints of coconut shavings and sugared nuts.
Palate: sweet, almond croissants, cherries, apricots, orange marmalade, butterscotch, raisins, candied ginger, dash of white pepper and nutmeg and little oak.
Finish: fairly long and sweet, with notes fresh and candied fruit, raisins, honey, vanilla, dash of spice and oak.
