Product description
Rums Serum were first launched in 2018. The brand is a creation of Kratochvilovci, a Czech company specialising in spirits. Yet this is where any links with Central Europe end. Serum are rums manufactured and matured in Panama.
And if we are talking Panama, we are getting very close to the main and greatest inspiration behind Serum rums, namely the Panama Canal, a 51-mile long waterway connecting the Atlantic with the Pacific Ocean, opened in 1914. The name of the rum builds on the story of how rum was used as a remedy for just about any kind of ailment, often mixed with other products. And since it was believed to be such a universal remedy, it was sometimes referred to as "serum". At present, the rum is manufactured from the so-called sugar cane honey, undergoes single but precise distillation in a column still, and then it is matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels.
Serum Elixir de Rom is a spirit drink based on rum. Because of its low alcohol content, it cannot be technically called rum. It was made with rums aged up to 8 years in oak barrels, after which a number of carefully selected local fruits, herbs and spices were macerated in it. The legend has it, such was the nature of drink that was widely used by the construction workers on the Panama Canal site to keep away all and any sings of ailments.
