Product description
In recent years, Jura whisky has experienced an incredible rise in popularity, with annual sales increasing from 350,000 bottles to over 2 million since 2010.
This was certainly due to a clever marketing strategy, but also to the improvement in the quality of the whisky itself – at the turn of the century, there was a large amount of inferior distillates in the Jura warehouses, which were poured into fresh bourbon barrels. The “Winter Edition” presented here is a proposal for winter 2000, and at the same time the second entry in the “Cask Edition Series”, a series emphasizing the role of the type of barrel in the final product. In this case, the whisky was aged in bourbon barrels (American oak) and finished in Oloroso sherry barrels (Spanish oak).
Nose: sweet breakfast cereals, milk fudge, golden syrup, caramel, honey, cinnamon, cloves, cocoa powder, apples and a fleeting trace of smoke.
Palate: chocolate-coated raisins, caramel, toffee, orange peel, apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon, a hint of nutmeg and a trace of smoke in the background.
Finish: medium long, with notes of milk chocolate, raisins, sultanas, a pinch of pepper and peat smoke in the background.
