Product description
Admiral Rodney rum brand was named so to commemorate Admiral George Rodney, the hero of the Battle of the Saints in 1782, in which the French fleet was defeated and the British dominion over the Caribbean was confirmed.
The rum is manufactured on the island of St. Lucia, by a company called St. Lucia Distillers. The company was founded in 1972 through a merge between the last two rum manufacturers remaining on the island, namely Dennery and Roseau. At present, sugar cane plantations on the island have been replaced with banana plantations, and so St. Lucia Distillers is forced to import their sugar cane from Guyana.
Admiral Rodney HMS Princessa is a blend of rums distilled in a column still, with the lower sections of the still. This resulted in robust, complex flavour profile, which was enhanced by 5-9 years of maturation in oak barrels that previously held American bourbon or Portuguese port wine.
Nose: Honey, raisins, vanilla, tobacco.
Palate: Sweet, with notes of cane sugar, crème brulee, toasted oak.
Finish: Long, with notes of oak, caramel and spices.
